1) Consider any technology and evaluate its effectiveness by using any 3 aspects of Bates’ SECTIONS model.

I will use the Bates’ SECTIONS model for EDPuzzle to evaluate its effectiveness.

  1. S (student). EDpuzzle is an App for teachers to teach by making their own videos, it fully considers the different levels of students in the progress of the class. For example, some students may have difficulty understanding the knowledge of the course. They can watch the video repeatedly and pause at any time when they need to take notes. Then the teacher will set up relevant questions in the video for students to answer, so that teachers can follow up on the completion of each student’s learning progress.
  2. E (ease of use). The use of EDpuzzle is very easy for students. Students need to have their own account to enter the personal homepage of EDPuzzle, and enter a code sent to students by the teacher, then they can watch the video and answer questions.
  3. C (costs). Edpuzzle is a 100% free app for teachers and students. The teacher can make 20 videos in one account. If the teacher wants to make the 21st video, then just delete one of the previous videos.

2) As a current or future educator, how do you deal with student’s preference for different technologies?

As an educator in the future, I want to understand the abilities of each student and create a classroom where students are not disappointed and increase their confidence based on their interests and strengths. I think this may improve teaching efficiency.

Thanks!
