Consider any technology and evaluate its effectiveness by using any 3 aspects of the bates Sections model?
I would like to choose youtube for students to learn concepts of science. I would like to use Bate’s SECTIONS to describe the efficiency of youtube in teaching and how it can be helpful for both teachers and students.
Student- Youtube is a well-known online platform that can also be used for learning and teaching. It is a platform which has both audio and video facility to learn while watching. A student can find numerous data on youtube regarding the subject. Students can find different videos of various teachers on the same topic.
Ease of use- It is very easy to use youtube for students as they do not have to register it for money. A person can open a youtube account through his email-id. Youtube is very convenient to use and learn about any information from anywhere. It requires only an internet facility to use it and one can use it through smart mobile phones which are mostly available with every student nowadays.
Cost- It does not cost any extra fees for itself rather than the internet cost. Through this tool, people can make videos of any content and post them on their channel. In this way, they can learn and earn money as many YouTubers get paid for their videos according to their content.
As a current or future educator, how do you deal with student’s preferences for different technologies?
As an educator in the future, I would like to give preference to student’s choices to use technology in their learning. I would like students to learn both from books and along with technology. Technology makes student’s efforts easy and it has been proved more beneficial than traditional learning. I will introduce students to various tools and apps to enhance their learning and encourage them to choose their preference according to them so that they enjoy learning along with improving technical skills.
Hi Azeez,
I appreciate you discussing giving student choice when it comes to technology, but I am curious to learn if you have experience in the school setting where this was an option. In my experience, choice has been nullified due to the fact that cost and accessibility have reduced the amount of choice in public schools. What type of technological choices would you hope or have experienced students having the option to use?
