hi, everyone.
My preferred teaching method is behaviourist.
I had a part-time experience in college when I was a teacher assistant in a local middle school. I found that if students are not in a state of preparation in their minds and their enthusiasm for learning is not high, the effect of education will below. For example, when a teacher teaches the theorem of inertia in a class, if the teacher does not prepare students for the study of force before the course, then the students do not have a deep understanding of inertia, and the overall learning atmosphere is not good. Therefore, the teacher must prepare the students for learning before the lecture to understand the content better. I can let students use an app for drawing mind maps.
I recommend another reason for behaviourist: in teaching, teachers should make their teaching goals specific and behavioural, so that the teaching goals become “small steps.” At the same time, the teaching goals should be hierarchical and continuous. One goal is the foundation of the latter purpose, and the last goal is the deepening and strengthening of the former plan, which helps students understand and strengthen knowledge.

Hello SHENGJIE,
Thank you for sharing the educational philosophy. I very much agree with what you said that in teaching, the educational goal should be specific, and a macro goal should be turned into a practical small step. Indeed, education requires such gradual progress, and the practical small steps are different for each student. In the teaching process, if we require everyone to achieve 80 points, then such a goal is obviously not hierarchical and not targeted. On the contrary, if we suggest that some students with poor grades can complete the small steps first, such as insisting on memorizing 20 words every day, or sorting out the wrong question set every day, the small steps that are easy to follow may achieve the final macro and long-term goal. So, as you said, a small goal can prepare for the big goal later, and the teaching process does require the patience and insight of teachers.

Hi Shengjie,
Thank you for including your teaching experiences with a teaching theory. Behaviourism, I think, sometimes gets a bad reputation because many individuals interpret it as only “reward and punishment.” I like how you included the importance of preparation in behaviourism for both the teacher and students. First, as you mentioned, it allows the lesson to be prepared and delivered. That simple process allows the teacher to demonstrate an efficient way to approach the learning, and also establishes classroom management – a vital part of teaching. Once that happens, reciprocal learning can take place between the teacher and students. Albert Bandura is a great theorist on behaviourism, particularly “self-efficacy.” Thank you for your input, and not a mere summary of the readings.
Hello Shengjie Jiang,
A Well-written post on Behaviorism. Behaviorism foucus on preparing the learner by conditioning the behavior. Learning can be enhanced by conditioning the learner with the help of external or internal stimuli. All theories of learning prepare the learner for the teaching-learning process by creating attention and interest. The teacher can introduce the topic by ways of an ice breaker, memory games, reasoning skills, discussion forums, etc. Conditioning through revision and assessment helps the teacher not only to achieve the learning outcomes but to prepare the learner for life long learning.
Take care

Hi Bubble,
Thank you for sharing your part-time experience. I agree with it. I think it is necessary to set goals. When a person knows what he wants and what goal he wants to achieve, he can be more motivated to do it or achieve this goal.
