Hi everyone,

this is Jasmine.

I think my favorite teaching method is related to constructivist learning theory. From the perspective of constructivism, the learning process of learners is the process of learners’ autonomous meaning construction. Learning is a process of meaning construction. Learners form, enrich and adjust their own cognitive structure through the interaction of new and old knowledge and experience. Learning is a two-way process. On the one hand, new knowledge is incorporated into the existing cognitive structure and gains new meaning. In the constructivist learning theory, the student is the center. Bates (2019) states that “constructivism” teachers especially emphasize that learners develop personal meaning through reflection, analysis, and conscious and continuous psychological processing to gradually form the level or depth of knowledge. In my study, the teacher will let every student write journal and reflection, and we will connect old knowledge with new knowledge through reflection. At the same time, constructivist learning theory advocates cooperative learning. Social constructivism believes that learning is a process of cultural participation. Learners construct relevant knowledge by participating in the practical activities of a certain community. Learning is not only the active processing of learning content by the individual, but also the cooperation and mutual assistance of learners. Therefore, social constructivism pays more attention to the social and cultural mechanisms behind learning and knowledge construction, and believes that there are great differences between individual learning and problem solving in different cultures and different environments. Just like our class, we come from different countries and have different cultures, and we talk about constructing new knowledge in class.

Siemens (2004) states that because the constructivist learning theory emphasizes student-centeredness and believes that students are the subject of cognition, teachers only help and promote students’ meaning construction, and do not require teachers to directly impart knowledge to students. With the support of network technology, modern educational technology teaching can be oriented to three forms of organization: individual, group, and class. Teachers can guide students through the Internet, and students can also use the Internet to consult teachers. The network can help students acquire knowledge more quickly and conveniently in the classroom, and students can also actively participate in networked learning to a large extent.

thank you and wish u stay safe.
