Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality is using computer technology to create a simulated, three-dimensional world that a user can manipulate and explore while feeling as if the individual is in that world. At every level of education, virtual reality has the potential to make a difference, to lead learners to new discoveries, to motivate and encourage and excite. An investigation by Mikropoulos, Chalkidis, Katsikis, and Emvalotis (1998) found students had a favorable attitude towards virtual reality in the educational process as it grabs and holds the attention of students. Students find it exciting and challenging to walk through an environment in three dimensions, interact with an environment, and create their own three-dimensional (3D) worlds. It can be used in different ways such as to Explore Geographical Locations, look inside the human body identify the different organs, look at intricate systems. Virtual field trips based on technology helps students to explore various things.
Challenges faced by an educator to use technology
There is no doubt that technology has a great impact on the teaching-learning process. It makes everything very easier. But still, there are some challenges to face by teachers such as they should be professionally skilled to use technology to teach the students. Otherwise, they will waste precious time to understand how it can be used in an effective way. Moreover, everyone cannot afford it easily due to financial issues. Also, some teachers found it difficult to use technology because of those students who can not easily adapt to the changing learning environment.

Hi Harpreet,
I certainly agree with the view that ‘teachers should be professionally skilled to use technology to teach students’. A professional learning program can make teachers competent to use technology in the classroom. At the same time, it can also facilitate to cultivate a positive attitude among teachers towards the use of technology, consequently, fostering their confidence level with regard to using digital resources in their classrooms.
Warm Regards,
Swanshi
Hi Harpreet,
I totally agree with your suggestion: teachers should learn to use VR as a prerequisite for teaching students.
If I have a chance to become an educator in the future, I will consider your suggestions.
thank you very much
Best wishes
