Teaching Methods
The result activity of “Teaching Perspectives Inventory” did not surprize me. I believe it indicated my beliefs, opinion on teaching. I believe education should be for development of society with the overall development and nurturing of an individual. As an educator, I will develop self- efficacy, self esteem in a student to progress their individuality and creativity. An active and motivated class make teacher to complete his/ her task of providing best knowledge for a student.
When compared with traditional learning, flipped classroom advantages students to learn by their own experiences. In my opinion, flipped classroom works when the educator uses Apprenticeship approach. Teacher should monitor the work and students learns by doing. It is also referred as experiential learning. As per the discussions on the topic, I believe flipped classroom works great with high school students rather than primary or elementary school students. There are some advantages of flipped classroom, as this encourage student-centered learning, critical thinking, and develops problem solving abilities in the students. Therefore, I would like to follow a blended class of traditional and flipped classroom in my further teaching as an educator.
I believe both my teaching and learning experiences influenced my choices in answering TPI. I believe societal development along with individual nurturing is the main objective of education.
I agree with you Azeez that flipped classroom is will benefit high school students more than younger ones but I wonder if there are situations where a flipped classroom could work at the elementary level. I also really respect your reflection on your teaching methods and promoting self-efficacy and self-esteem.
