Universal Design of Learning

My reflection towards universal design of learning is fair is not always equal, and I believe fair for everyone is equality in learning which I have been posted in this week pad let.

As a teacher I have never used UDL in my Class, therefore traditional teaching methods does not provide opportunities for creating different types of learning options for different students. I have followed basic and traditional teaching methods for students.

From the last two semester I have been experiencing UDL in my M.Ed. courses at TRU. Although I became familiar in this semester, I could relate my previous learning experiences which promoted my learning up to extent. All my instructors have different teaching perspectives and encouraged every student to learn by different approach which makes learning stress- free. It was the first time I started using online reading materials, apps, blogs. Learning along with a touch of technology in the form of voiceover presentation, Loom videos, Kaltura video capture, and use of Moodle for submitting assignments. Therefore, activities to keep engaged in the classroom, breakroom discussions at virtual classes. I believe learning has become interesting, and fun for me personally. Freedom and choice of presenting our perception in the form of discussion forum had led to a great development of critical thinking.  This learning method gave opportunity to obtain learning objectives along with flexibility of learning. To make better results, university provided success center accessibility for student’s which helps to precise their writings and boosts their confidence.

I think I would really like to implement this Universal Design of learning in my class as an educator to enhance my teaching abilities.

In my last assignment, the App Review I have reviewed is Splash learn for Grade k- 5 children. It is an online app used for Maths learning, easily accessible for both parents and teachers. It gives an easy way of learning Maths by play and learning. I think, this app can be a good source of UDL learning for an instructor to teach and track the students’ progress.

Thanks,

Azeez.
