Dual Code Theory
Hello everyone,
According to (Paivio, 1971) Dual coding theory is based on visual and verbal transformation of knowledge which enhances memory and recognition. Use of dual coding theory in the class while teaching reduces cognitive load and working memory of students increase, which helps to improve learning.
This is not a part of traditional learning. Traditional teaching does not create an interesting learning environment, and thus learning becomes uninteresting sometimes. By using Dual coding theory teacher’s can work on to improve their teaching content to be more effective. Visual and verbal description of any information helps in the better understanding of knowledge and enhances student’s memory. Therefore, this teaching method is being prominent in most of the learning areas. I believe in future; this method will be opted to teach and learn for different subjects and courses.
In my class, while teaching science concepts I used to show you tube videos for my students to enhance their knowledge on the concept and for easy understanding. I hope in future, in my teaching carrier I would like to use both visual and verbal information to enhance my teaching skills in the modern era of teaching.
Thanks,
Azeezunnisa.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your views and experiences. I totally agree with you that insteade of using traditional teaching methods DCL is more effective for achive learning outcomes. DCL helps to enhance the teaching learning process in modern era. Additionlly, in the subjects like teaching languages we can use DCL efficiently. Nowadays, there are many other resources (DCL) are available and by using of technology they become more intresting and productive, which also upgrade the standard of education.
Thanks
