I think F-Shaped Pattern means that after I become an educator, I need to pay attention to the needs and interests of learners. Pernice (2017) state that one of the reasons why F-Shaped Pattern appears is that users are not interested in an article, which makes them not want to read every word. Based on this, I think in my future teaching, I need to find ways to motivate students to learn. This is not easy to achieve because it means that educators need to observe students carefully to understand their needs and interests, and they need to discover the teaching value of learner’s interest.
F-Shaped Pattern does not only exist on the Internet, I think F-Shaped Pattern also has a good reference for how to design textbooks. When printing the teaching content later, I think that educators also need to typeset the teaching materials according to the reading habits of the learners to meet the needs of the learners. The development of technology has provided many new ideas for education; for example, eye tracking has found people’s different reading habits, which provides a good reference for the layout of teaching materials.

Ruili, your inference that teachers need to understand the needs and interests of every student is correct. The more a teacher knows about their learners they can then create a curriculum that will follow the UDL model. I do think that if teachers learn to implement UDL in their classrooms then it will best suit those outlier students and theoretically hit all students. So in relation to the F-shaped pattern, if a teacher designs their lessons to follow this and place graphics that better enhance learning this way it could help the learner, however, remembering that not all learners read this way. This is why education, specifically teaching is so challenging, because we are always needing to figure out how to give one year of growth to ALL students.
Hi Ruili,
Thank you for sharing your views on the F-shaped Pattern. When I think the article is unimportant or boring, I really just want to skim it, not go after every word.In our teaching, if students are not interested in the teaching content, their learning attitude should also be negative and perfunctory. So, I quite agree with you that educators should pay attention to the needs and interests of students and find ways to motivate them to learn. In my opinion, with the continuous progress of science and technology, modern science and technology are gradually applying these theories and practical courses. What we should do is to constantly update our teaching methods and keep pace with the times.
Best,
Sheng Li
